Welcome
to the website of the Seahorse Golf Society.
The Society was formed on the Guinness stand at the London International
Boat Show in 1991 with the intention of bringing competitive sailors
together for a few informal rounds of mediocre golf each year.
The Seahorse connection comes from the Royal Ocean Racing Club, which
uses a seahorse as its logo.
All the founder Seahorse members were RORC members and we felt that
by calling the society the Seahorse Golf Society, we wouldn't have
to buy another tie. The society has RORC's full approval for the use
of the name, but RORC is not involved with the society in any other
way.
The society now has 53 members and meets up to eight times a year.
Applications for membership will be accepted only from sailors with
a background in competitive sailing, but this can be at any level
- from gravel pit dinghies to Admiral's/America's Cup/Volvo Race level.
The society has a few world champions among its members (and one Olympic
medallist), although the majority are - or were - regular weekend
(and Wednesday/Thursday evening) points series sailors.
The current members are: John Arthur, Andrew Baird, David Barrow,
Nigel Barrow, Paul Barrow, Andrew Bathe, David Boardman, Stuart Childerley,
